The Shtibl

The Shtibl

The Sydenham Shtibl started some years ago to offer an alternative Minyan to the formal, choral service in the Main Shul. Many young people today prefer the "Do-It-Yourself" service which is informal and features communal singing. Many also appreciate the later starting time on Shabbos morning of 8:45 a.m.
The Shtibl appeals to adults of all ages who are looking to grow in Yiddishkeit. Shiurim are smaller and everyone is comfortable to ask questions during the Shiur. The Shtibl community is close-knit and connected, permeated with a heimishe family atmosphere. Children feature prominently at the Shtibl where they are invited to take part in the service: Brachot, Ani'im Zemirot, P'sichas Ha'Aron, singing of Ashrei and Shma are often led by the children.

Rabbi Stern assumed the position of Associate Rabbi of our Shul in July 2007. In addition to the other rolls they play in the Shul, Rabbi & Estee are the Rabbi and Rebbetzin of our Shtibl Minyan where they already have an enthusiastic following.
This couple is dynamic and exciting and has added to the content, excitement and energy levels at Sydenham Shul. For more about them.
